Don Henley’s new record Cass County is his best work in a long time. It’s wonderful, I can’t quit listening to it. His record is the country music I love, songs about truth and what goes on in our lives when no one is looking.
This song, Praying for Rain, particularly struck me. Henley cares about the environment, he sings about what he sees.
I ain’t no wise man
But I’m no fool
I believe that Mother Nature
Has taken us to school
Maybe we just took too much
Or put too little back
It isn’t knowledge
It’s humility we lack
