Human-Robot Relations: Why We Should Worry

August 26, 2013 By paulie Leave a Comment

Here’s another piece as part of my “Robot Overlords” post. It’s on livescience.com, here:

Human Robot Relations: Why We Should Worry

We talk to Siri. We have intense relationships with our phones, with Facebook. This is leading to a lack of community. How long will it be before Siri replaces consultants? How long will it take for Siri to become the advice we rely on the most? When this happens, who’s really in control? The tech companies, that’s who. Is this really a world we want, where a few companies control most, if not all of our daily life?

This is a great quote from the piece:

“Now is the time…to step back and reconsider how and when we want to let machines into our lives, and when we should turn them off”.
